About the Year of Scotland in Australia, 2020

The Year of Scotland in Australia, 2020 is a nationwide calendar of activity celebrating Scottish music, culture, food and drink.

#YOSA2020 starts 31st December 2019 and continues through until 31st December 2020, with spectacular new year’s Hogmanay celebrations bookmarking hundreds of activities designed to increase appreciation for the remarkable quality and diversity of Scottish musical culture.

Activities include Scottish features at over 35 Australian festivals, an increase in the National Celtic Festival’s ceilidh trail, The Glenturret Burns Night Supper at the iconic Sydney Opera House, Scottish artists taking part in regional and remote Australian touring through the Festival of Small Halls Australia, the inaugural Scottish Towns and Grand Houses Tour, the introduction of Scottish food and drink (including whisky, the Scottish staple) and the creation of this website to draw attention to the constantly bubbling outposts of Scottish culture year-round, such as the many Burns Night Suppers, St Andrew’s Day events, Highland Games and Clan Gatherings.

The full announcement of YOSA2020 activities is released November 28th, so you can start planning your Australian Scottish experience by visiting the newly announced suite of festivals taking part in the Year, and then keep an eye on the site as more events are announced.
