Bankfoot House Heritage Precinct is proud to partner with A Year of Scotland in Australia in a yearlong celebration of Scottish heritage and pioneer houses in Australia. A curated display featuring objects from the Bankfoot House collection celebrate the Scottish lineage of Mary and William Grigor and their families. Go on a journey of discovery through the Highlands of Scotland, profiling the Grigor’s Scottish home towns of Bankfoot, Perthshire and the Black Isle. Maclean Highland Gathering

Albany International Folk ‘n’ Shanty Festival

Albany International Folk 'n' Shanty Festival is Australia's only shanty music festival. The inaugural event was held in 2019 and was an unqualified success with over two thousand people attending events over the Easter weekend. The 2020 festival is set to be even bigger with more groups reflecting the growing popularity if maritime folk and shanty music internationally. During 1895-96, a Busy Bee group in Heidelberg, Victoria, made a signature quilt to raise funds for their local Scots Church. Contributors embroidered names or other identifiers on the cotton squares. The Busy Bees pieced the squares together. The quilt testifies to their church and family connections as well as their community, business, government and social networks in Heidelberg, Prahran, Williamstown and elsewhere. Scots on The Rocks Ceilidh Course

This course is for people who are going to a ceilidh or to an occasion where there might be a ceilidh (wedding, birthday or whatever).Four Weeks (20 April, 27 April, 4 May and 11 May). In the course you will learn steps and basic dance formations as well as popular ceilidh dances you may come across. No previous dancing experience is necessary – $50pp at Fort Street Public School, Observatory Hill, The Rocks.
